As the Owner of this website, I am bias towards Electric Cars, Trucks, Boats. That being said, Diesel engines are a thing of beauty and at the moment, the amount of power and torque a diesel produces can’t not be replaced currently by an electric motor and Batteries.

Why I am Bias
My Bias is from being a mechanic for years on daily driver vehicles. If you have had to replace anything on a newer car or truck, you will understand the bias towards electric cars and trucks. For you those that haven’t, the engineers that design these cars are not designed to be worked on or cost effective for the owner. As an Owner of BMW, I have had to replace, the alternator (5 hours), water pump and thermostat (4 hours). All of these repairs would have cost more than what the vehicle is worth.
Electric Cars and Trucks VS ICE (Internal Combustion Engine)
The reason why I have my bias is with less moving parts, you have less problems. That being said, EV’s still have problems. As a follower of the EV Hummer and GMC Sierra EV Forums, they have a lot of problems. By far they will never replace a Diesel for dependability, torque, towing and the ability to get diesel anywhere.
When will EV’s replace ICE vehicles?
For some situations, they will never replace them. When it comes to long distance towing, dependability, and easy of use, diesel will always be the go to. Someday if the batteries shrink, and charging stations become more abundant, than there is a chance.
Why I see EV cars, trucks and boats the way of the future?
EV cars are already going further and further with the GMC Sierra having a long range of 450 miles plus. The Electric Catamaran’s are already selling because they get the quietness of sailing along with the solar charging of the batteries and silent running of the electric motors.
The problem with EV’s is the cost!
Even through the cost of the cars and batteries have come down, states like California and Minnesota are raising registration fees to cover the road cost from the cars wearing the roads. Along with that, the gas and electric companies are raising rates to cover they’re cost.
Can you save money while owning a EV?
Yes but you have understand how you will use the vehicle and also how you will charge the vehicle. I drive less than 50 miles a week. If you drive more or have long distance drives, you will have to put that into your equation.
Where will you have cost savings in an EV Vehicle?
Overall you will be paying less when it comes to an EV because the motors and batteries last longer with less working parts. Typically a battery on an EV has an 100,000 mile warranty. The motors have been optimized to not go bad. And of course you will not be paying at the pump.
What is the most optimized plan for you to save money and have less problems with an EV?
I am no expert. That being said, this is the way that I see you can offset the cost and problems of getting an EV. 1. Start or have a business. Than Lease an EV in the companies name. Than any issues with the vehicle is the dealerships problem. The lease payment or percentage of the payment can be written off. You may be able to write off the electrical bill too, but check with an tax attorney.
Have you home or business running on solar or wind if you can. Now that we have batteries that are for the home, we can disconnect from the grid most of the time or even produce more electricity so that we get a credit and charging your ev becomes almost free. All good in theory, but this is just a theory.
